Hey folks, just thought I'd give you a quick update on what's been going on lately. Started the new job yesterday, and so far it's been basically powerpoint torture with mission statements, vision statements and corporate training that has absolutely nothing to do with my job. Since I'll be working for a division that handles government work, of course I get to have twice the amount of training at the typical employee. I'm thinking at this rate that I may actually get to meet my supervisor by the end of the week..lol As far as actually doing what I was hired for, I think that'll be another week or two away. I can't really complain though, because from what I've heard over 600 people applied for 3 available spots, one of which I now occupy. I've also heard that once you get settled in this is a really great company to work for, and there seem to be a lot of little perks that will make my life here easier.
This is the first really large company I've worked for however, with over 12000 employees, so right now I feel like a brand new ant to the colony. The largest company I worked for before had about 50 employees, so this is a bit of a culture shock right now. Good thing is I've already bonded with two other newbies in my department, so we'll be tackling this adjustment period as a team. Well, off to try to access some online training so I can get a leg up figuring out what I'll actually be doing here, so hope all is well!
